Beat Kitchen: Harmonic by Seattle Composers Alliance

Beat Kitchen: Harmonic by Seattle Composers Alliance
Tuesday October 6, 2026
7pm doors, 7:30 presentation start
at The LAB @ 1010 – Seattle Drum School of Music Georgetown

The harmonic series sits at the nexus of synthesis and harmony. It touches everything from audio engineering to music theory. Join Nathan Rosenberg (Beat Kitchen) as he explains how this bedrock was behind the design of “Harmonic,” an offshoot of additive synthesis he’s calling “harmonic synthesis.” Using the instrument itself as a hands-on visualization tool, he’ll walk through how the overtone series shapes everything from mixing to sound design — and why it’s the front door into synthesis, not just a theory requirement.

Nathan says: “I haven’t done a FREE WORKSHOP in a while. If you’re in Seattle, stop by this one. I’ll be explaining how it all started: Sound, harmony, acoustics, overtones… And it’s the driving force behind the design of BKS Harmonic which is my new harmonic synthesizer which operates on the principles of additive synthesis, but with a few important twists. I will discussing its design, synthesis in general, and I’ll be giving away a license or two and also selling some deeply discounted as well ($20 which is something like 75% off.).

Special thanks to Seattle Composers Alliance and Seattle Drum School of Music for hosting this event! Doors open at seven. I look forward to sharing some information and answering questions. Hope to see you there!”
