The LAB@1010
At our Georgetown location, The Lab@1010 serves as a dynamic, all-ages performance venue, providing musicians and artists of all backgrounds with a welcoming space to showcase their talents. In addition to student recitals and artist showcases, The Lab hosts a variety of rehearsals for local and touring acts.
As of 2022, It is now publicly available for community members to hold their own events including private parties, all-ages shows and jam sessions, presentations and meetings, stand-up comedy performances, film screenings, memorials, art and vendor shows, and professional photo and video shoots. Designed for versatility, the venue fosters creative expression while offering high-quality sound and production support.

Collaboration with local organizations
Seattle Drum School of Music actively fosters connections beyond our student base, working with local organizations to enrich the cultural fabric of our community.
SDSM has served as the first place where young musicians have performed, launching hundreds of bands and thousands of friendships. In addition to providing the first performance opportunity for young musicians in our own venue, we also collaborate with community organizations to provide them an opportunity to perform at public events such as the NW Folklife, Lake City Summer Fest, Georgetown Carnival, and Sustainable Ballard.

Local music projects
The Seattle Drum School of Music has a deep-rooted history in live music recording. Our original venue, The LAB, was the birthplace of hundreds—if not thousands—of bands, with in-house engineers recording each performance directly to CD. Today, we continue this tradition at The LAB@1010 with enhanced capabilities, offering room audio recording, multi-track recording, and livestream production for events. Looking ahead, we aim to build out an additional recording room to better serve podcasters and individual performers, expanding access to professional-grade audio production for all.
Tuition Assistance
Committed to making music education accessible, Seattle Drum School of Music has historically and unofficially offered tuition assistance to students with lesser means. As a small family-owned business, Steve and Kristy Smith have supported this core principle directly with over $20,000 per year in lesson subsidies and full tuition coverage.
HELP US SUPPORT COMMUNITY-CENTERED MUSIC

Under their nonprofit umbrella SDSM benefits from a supportive framework that enhances our mission to provide top-tier musical education to a diverse community of aspiring musicians.
