ABOUT:
Robert has been in love with music his whole life. As a child, he picked out tunes by ear on a little electronic keyboard. In elementary school he started learning the trumpet and discovered jazz. In high school he played baritone, trumpet, and guitar, and soon joined the Michigan All-State Jazz Band.
He studied jazz and classical euphonium at Western Michigan University, where he performed with the Jazz Orchestra, Gold Company vocal group, and won a Best Soloist award at the Downbeat Student Music Competition. He developed his music while surrounded by inspirational peers and visiting artists. He later accepted a full scholarship to Wayne State University so he could study with legendary Detroit trumpeter, Marcus Belgrave. Robert eventually arranged, performed, recorded, and toured with Marcus’ group, appearing on the album, “A Tribute to Louis Armstrong”.

Robert also plays modern rock and popular music. He performed, toured, and recorded with Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground, with a featured solo on national TV (The Late Late Show, 2008). He is a studio musician, appearing on albums for multiple artists including Flo Rida, Portugal the Man, Dolour, Copeland, Thee Emergency, Shannon Stevens, and others.

Since 2000, he’s performed on guitar and piano with his wife, Victoria (an extraordinary violinist), as the Parker Duo. He’s currently exploring Irish music via the whistle and the Bodhran (an Irish drum).
