Band Camp Instructor, Drums

Rosie was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. Her love of music has been lifelong but the dedication to studying music began in high school when she joined Drumline and Jazz Band. She quickly became passionate about playing drums. Her love of drumline percussion and playing the drumset continued throughout college where she marched with the USC drumline and did various musical courses and ensembles including Afro-Cuban percussion, keyboard, guitar, music theory and more. At the time, she was also very busy with non-school-related bands playing around Los Angeles/Hollywood. She received her BA in Creative Writing from USC in 2006 then soon began teaching preschool and studying Early Childhood Education.

Rosie has over 10 years of experience teaching preschool in classroom settings with ages ranging from infants to pre-K. While living in Oakland she also worked as a Drum Instructor/Band Manager with school-aged girls in an afterschool enrichment program called “Bay Area Girls Rock Camp”.

Alongside her teaching career she has maintained a consistent drumming career recording (drums/vocals), touring the world (US, Canada, Japan, Europe), performing with multiple bands, and writing songs. She has been drumming professionally for almost 20 years now. Her artist repertoire includes toyGuitar (Fat Wreck Chords), Dead Bars (Iodine Records), Guilty Party (Paper Street Cuts), and The B!tchfits (Cover Grrrl Records) while residing in Los Angeles, Oakland and Seattle. She currently plays in two bands in Seattle that perform often: Dead Bars (rock `n roll) and Someone’s Daughter (all-girl, feminist punk band).

She also teaches music with young children (infant-5 years old) at Sunshine Together and teaches percussion for kindergartners at Seattle Percussion Works, located in Ballard. She loves engaging with children and enriching their lives with the joy of music. Fortunately since moving to Seattle in 2023 she has been able to study under Steve Smith (owner/founder of Seattle Drum School) and pursue her journey of both continuing education for herself and also educating others, while thriving in a musical community
